Let me introduce's main photo contributor, Finnish professional photographer Eija Mäkivuoti, is about to officially open a photo exhibition in Helsinki, Finland. The exhibition, Light from the Darkness - Photographs from the world of metal music, will feature shots taken by Mäkivuoti, together with two other Finnish photographers, Susanna Honkasalo and Markus Paajala and a German professionist, Jens Nolte.
Within this exhibition, Mäkivuoti's photo documentary series and the experimental movie is portraying her collaboration with the Faroese doom metal band Hamferð, especially focusing on images from the Ferðin til Heljar -tour in Iceland and on the Faroe Islands. Hamferð draws its inspiration from the toilsome and sorrowful depths of Faroese history and the Faroese culture.
On Friday 21st June, a special opening event will take place, with welcoming words and guest from the Faroese doom metal band Hamferð at 4 p.m to 6 p.m. (for Tuska goers).
During Tuska festival weekend (28.6.-30.6.) the exihibition is open to the festival guests from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. (Puhdistamo is situated within the festival area).
